Are you an emergency veterinarian with a special interest in toxicology? The Animal Poisons Centre is currently seeking expressions of interest for a new permanent part-time opening as a Poisons Information Consultant. As Australasia’s only animal poisons information service, the Animal Poisons Centre is a progressive organisation with a professional, passionate, cohesive and efficient team. We strive to deliver a world class service and know that our staff are key to achieving this.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest from emergency veterinarians that have a passion for clinical toxicology. The successful applicant will need to have great communication skills, be highly efficient, and be able to work well under pressure. The position will primarily involve providing triage and first aid phone advice to pet owners, as well as risk assessment and detailed management advice to veterinarians who are managing poisoned animals. Additional roles may include clinical guideline development, development and delivery of poison education and prevention sessions, and any other activities that may further the aims of the organisation.

The position will initially be for two day sessions (9AM-5PM AEDT) and three to four on-call sessions (5PM-9AM AEDT) per month. The role will also involve some weekend shifts, so applicants will need to be available for these. The successful applicant will be located in Australia, will require a dedicated home office space, and should ideally have the ability to pick up additional shifts from time to time. The benefits of joining our team include working from home, weekend loading, and an opportunity to contribute to and shape a crucial national service. Training and support will be provided.
If you are interested in this role, you can submit an expression of interest by uploading your resume and cover letter below. The expression of interest closes this Sunday the 18th of February at 5PM AEDT.
